ASA REJECTS OLYMPIAN ADVERTISING COMPLAINT

The ASA has rejected several complaints raised objections to advertising by Olympian Pine Furniture in Glasgow, claiming that posters caused widespread and serious offence. The posters, created by The Union, featured leather sofas and invited Vegans to ”look away now”.

UNION IS NO.1 AGAIN

The Union reclaimed the title of Scotland’s most creative agency for the second time, after topping the creative league in 2000. The Union won 10 awards and 3 commendations at the annual Scottish Advertising Awards.

UNION MOVES INTO A NEW HOME

The Union has moved from its offices in Rodney Street, where it has been based since 1997. The agency has purchased new offices in Inverleith Terrace – a church building previously owned by the Church of Scotland. The new offices will be filled with over 60 staff from The Union, plus the direct marketing and internet divisions of the business.

UNION WINS ROSTER SPOT WITH SCOTTISH EXECUTIVE

The Union has won a coveted place on The Scottish Executive’s advertising agency roster. It will now be one of three agencies working across a range of the Executive’s campaigns. The communication department at The Scottish Executive is responsible for many high profile and challenging campaigns such as Domestic Abuse, Drug Awareness, Alcohol Abuse, Road Safety, Flu Immunization and Organ Donation.

UNION’S WORK FOR BAXTERS SCOOPS THREE AWARDS

The Union’s press campaign for Baxter’s fresh soup won top honours at The UK Roses in Manchester this month. The campaign won Best Consumer Press Campaign, Best Consumer Press Advertisement and Best National Press Advertisement. The Union also picked up three awards for its work on Fife Council (Best Radio Campaign), s1homes.com (Best Regional Press Advertisement) and Stortext (Best Business-to Business Direct Mail).
