We’re looking for Digital Account Director to help continue The Union’s digital growth. Reporting directly to our Head of Digital, and based in Edinburgh, you’ll be a talented strategic thinker, with excellent communications and presentation skills, and have the enthusiasm, drive and energy to lead from the front. Above all, your client relationship and team management skills will be second to none.

The Union is one of Scotland’s leading communications agencies, with 95 staff and offices in Leeds and Edinburgh. Digital is at the heart of our integrated offering. Our current client list extends across B2B and B2C, public and private, including hospitality, tourism, charity, education, food & beverage, and retail. Established in 1996, the agency has thrived due to a passion for creativity and excellence in client service.

Union Digital doubled turnover in 2016 and provides clients with the full range of digital services: web design and build, web maintenance, hosting, SEO, PPC, online content, social media and digital strategy. We have ambitions to grow the business further and are seeking individuals with an energy, passion and ambition that matches our own.

This is a senior role, with excellent career development opportunities. It is an ideal role for an experienced Account Director who is looking for added responsibility and an opportunity to develop as an all round business leader. We may also consider talented and ambitious Digital Account Managers who have a proven track record and are looking for the next step up in their career.

In terms of skill-set, you will have a comprehensive understanding of ‘all things digital’ including website design and build, mobile apps, SEO, digital marketing and email marketing, and you’ll understand how these fit into the overall communications mix.

The role is ideal for someone who is already working in a web design and build agency, or someone from an SEO or online marketing background who is looking to expand their experience and has a track record of project and financial management. Candidates with relevant client side experience will also be considered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Identifying, developing and overseeing digital projects for existing and new clients.
  • Digital strategy and planning.
  • Writing and presenting proposals, tenders and pitches.
  • Knowledge and experience of major platforms, search, social media.
  • Evaluation of strategic and creative proposals.
  • Creating documentation, including website scoping and information architecture (sitemaps, wireframes etc).
  • Managing budgets, forecasting and invoicing.
  • Improving profitability on digital projects.
  • Managing third party relationships for media buying and technical suppliers.
  • Internal training and development, and knowledge sharing.
  • Generating ideas and keeping up to date with digital trends.
  • Advising on best practice across a range of digital communications.
  • Ability to solve problems calmly, quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy.
  • Team leadership: we’re looking for someone who can inspire and motivate.
  • Ability to solve problems calmly, quickly and effectively.

Whilst relevant marketing and digital qualifications are of interest, the main requirement is proven account management experience within an online marketing environment or in a digital agency.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / INTERNAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Working across The Union as part of a 360 degree strategy.
  • Gaining trust and support of the rest of the Union Group.
  • Monitoring and reporting on Client relationships and ensuring The Union’s interests are always best represented.
  • Mentoring the digital account team.
  • Leading the relationship with the technical/development team.
  • Leading the relationship with the digital creative and design team.
  • Reporting to the Head of Digital on finance, HR, client relationships and new business development.

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Developing and fostering the client base e.g. promoting a ‘client first’ culture.
  • Managing external suppliers.

  • Identifying PR opportunities and improving the agency’s digital reputation.
  • Networking and developing new business leads.
  • Being an advocate and champion for Union Digital externally.
