When I was 14 all I wanted in life was a set of Mizuno clubs. But when my Dad asked me why I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Nobody else had them. And I had never even tried using them. I just knew they were cool. (OK, I was a bit of a golf geek.)
Thus started my fascination with the ‘why’ of brands, and the behaviour of consumers in relation to them. It’s a fascination that I took through University, studying Psychology and Sociology along with Marketing, and I’m glad to say it’s never left me. Bread and beer, whisky and water, public and private, I’ve worked with some of Britain’s best brands, and it makes me very proud to have done so.
I started Union Connect in 2007, and its now one of Scotland’s leading promotional marketing agencies. Then in 2012 I also became Managing Director of The Union. More than anything, I love the energy, enthusiasm and talent of our people. It’s a privilege to work with them.
Oh, one more thing. I got my Mizunos when I turned 40, and I do know ‘why’. Call me and I’ll tell you.
