Simon Howie, the reputable Scottish butcher, was keen to improve sales of his haggis range for Burns Night in 2017. Union Connect, The Union’s specialist promotional agency, developed an online competition – ‘Count the Haggis’ – where entrants had to count the number of haggis hidden in a humorous online film to win a prize. The video generated over 230,000 views and there were over 2,000 entries to the competition. Sales increased an incredible +40% on the previous year. As Simon Howie himself said: “January 2017 was the biggest ever month for Supermarket sales including our largest ever turnover for sales south of the border.” See if you can count all the haggis in the video!
