As life returned to normal after the pandemic, and hospitals started treating patients in greater numbers, there was an increase in the demand for blood from our hospitals. But donors proved more reluctant to return to their old donation patterns. 

By December 2021 the blood donor base was 92,000 – the smallest it had been since records began and down 13% year-on-year. We needed a simple, galvanising campaign that persuaded people to start giving again. And quickly.
