SMG’s new internet business, s1, has appointed The Union following a three-way pitch to develop the launch campaigns for s1 brands. The s1 range of websites will target internet users in Scotland. First to launch will be s1jobs, a recruitment website, with a multi-media campaign scheduled to commence January 2001. Property and entertainment websites, both branded ‘s1’, will follow shortly after. Commenting on The Union’s appointment, s1 Head of Marketing, Ewan Colville said: “The Union’s appointment provided us with sound strategic thinking allied to highly creative and campaignable solutions. Key user benefits of s1 sites – unrivalled range and depth of content and user-friendly functionality – were very much to the fore in The Union’s creative work”. Each s1 branded website will target specific market sectors – recruitment, property, entertainment, etc – and provide advertisers with exposure to Scotland’s rapidly growing online audience.
