Union Group companies; The Union, Union Direct and Union Data, have been nominated for 23 awards for the upcoming Marketing Society Scotland Star Awards The awards have been the litmus test for marketing effectiveness and creativity for the last 15 years in Scotland.

The Union was named Agency of the Year in 2021; however this year’s 23 nominations is a record for the agency. The nominations are in 13 categories; across a total of ten different clients. The breadth and depth of recognition, even at this stage, reflects both an intensely busy 2021 for the agency but also the wide set of marketing services the agency offers clients.

Clients nominated include Scottish Government, Zero Waste Scotland, Worldwide Cancer Research, Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service, Playlist for Life, Social Security Scotland, Scottish Widows, VisitScotland, Scotland Food & Drink and Food Standards Scotland.

The categories cover: Brand Development; Digital Strategy; Integrated Marketing; Marketing Planning and Insights; Marketing in Society – Charity; Marketing in Society – Purpose; Brand Experience; Design; Digital Communication; Financial and Professional Services; Food; Public Sector; Tourism, Leisure and Sport.

The awards dinner will be held on 23rd June this year. Last year the agency won four Golds, one Silver and one Bronze at the event, which was held virtually.

Lisa King, Senior Planner, who organised The Union’s entries, said: “We’re gobsmacked at this. Although the whole team here put in a massive effort, we know how competitive these awards are. Just to get nominated out of 20 or more entries in each category is an achievement. Of course winning on the night is a different matter, and we’re are not counting any chickens yet. But, as they say, ‘you have to be in it to win it’, so we are looking forward to a fun evening, whatever happens.”
