The Union won four awards at the 2020 Marketing Society Scotland Star Awards last night. The awards recognise the best-in-class marketing campaigns of the previous 12 months. The agency picked up a Gold and a Silver for Scottish Government – Nursing Recruitment, and two Bronze awards; one for Sterling Furniture and the other for the National Libraries of Scotland.

The awards are hotly contested; this year had a record number of entries. Each category can have up to 30 entrants; thus making the shortlist of six is, of itself, an achievement.

Louise Killough, Client Services Director at The Union, said: “We are delighted with the results tonight. These awards bring our total awards won over the last five years to 35, which demonstrates clearly the consistent quality of our campaign planning, consumer insight and creative output. Given the level of competition, with 34 agencies nominated, to come away with four awards, of all colours, is fantastic. Our challenge now is to repeat this success next year.”

The Union was also shortlisted for ‘Agency of the Year’ for the tenth year in a row, and Union Account Director, Lyndsay Snodden, was shortlisted for ‘Rising Agency Star.”

Star Awards 2020

This year the awards event was held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, Union staff and clients donned their glad-rags and enjoyed a sociable evening. Special ‘goodie boxes’ were distributed beforehand to help make it a fun evening.

Everyone will no doubt be hoping for a more ‘normal’ event next year.
